Hi Luvv God family,
Growing up, my mum would wake me and my siblings up at 7am before school for devotion. She’d drag me out of bed and I’d be there fighting sleep as we read through the Bible together.
I remember viewing Christianity as this massive chore, an inconvenience in my life.
But somewhere along the way, something changed.
I went to university and for the first time, my mum wasn’t there to wake me up for devotion or force me to go to church. I could do whatever I wanted.
For a moment, I thought, “University. Freedom. I’m about to go crazyyy.” lol.
But strangely enough, there was a discontentment.
There was a yearning.
I couldn’t really explain it. I just knew I wanted something more.
So I found myself going through my Bible, spending time with the Lord, and slowly, I began to enjoy His presence.
Nobody had to tell me anymore.
Maybe you’ve experienced something similar. That strange shift where faith stops feeling like something you’re supposed to do, and starts becoming something that happens within you, whether or not anyone’s watching.
Paul writes in Romans 5:5, “God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
There’s something mysterious about that.
Poured into our hearts???
What does that even mean?
That the Almighty God can pour directly into our hearts.
Wow.
Yes, we still fall short. We still struggle. But there’s a conviction when you move away from what you know is right. Sin doesn’t feel quite the same anymore.
Something has shifted.
There is Someone at work within us.
Jesus is real. His presence is real. He is active in our lives, and His love is being poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
The God who created the universe, every atom - the God who created you and me - has poured His love into our hearts.
As we navigate through this coming week, let’s meditate on that.
Father God, we thank You.
We thank You for pouring your love into our hearts.
Continue to draw us closer to You.
Let us be sensitive to the Holy Spirit within us.
Let us truly enjoy Your presence.
It is in Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
Every blessing,
Dami Fadun
