Hey Luvv God family,

The current ‘‘political and spiritual’’ state of the world has been bringing up so many thoughts and emotions.

I have been questioning my part in all of this chaos.

And I think it’s a universal response to what is happening in the world today.

But how do we steward the earth in times like this?

Because:

When I look at this world and its current state
I see that the perception of ‘‘good’’
is seeming to fade.
With all this darkness, pain and loss
I can only hang on to having faith
in the promise that has been made
available through the finished work on the cross.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

The Word tells us that Jesus died so that whoever believes in Him
will have everlasting life.

Those who believe are saved from the penalty of death
and therefore freed from the darkness of this world.

Yet we’re still living in a time where darkness roams this earth, trying to deceive people into captivity.

In the midst of homelessness, identity crisis, mental health problems, economic issues, financial instability and political chaos there are people dying of wars, sickness, starvation, persecution and so much more…

So what then is our part in a world like this?

Here Jesus tells us that we are the light of the world!

And just like a city that is set on a hill and a lamp on a lampstand,
we are not meant to stay hidden.

So how do we shine our light before people?

Well, Isaiah 58 gives us examples on how God would love for us to act during a fast.

verse 7
share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless,
Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide
from relatives who need your help.

verse 10
…Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the
darkness around you will be as bright as noon.

I actually believe these are things we should practice regularly, regardless of a fast, especially in the world of today.

Shining your light means living out the selfless love of Jesus.

Everywhere you go you can leave behind the love of Christ.

May it be by simply smiling at a stranger, helping out a colleague,
complimenting a classmate, or indeed giving food and clothes to the homeless,
you name it.

Every act of love matters!

The world is desperately in need of hope, light and selfless love.

And we, as the body of Christ, are the people who can testify of the one true living God who is all of these things.

So it’s only fair that we share Him with others so they can experience His light.

In Matthew chapter 5 Jesus continues to teach us how to act and live out His perfect love by;

Being humble, doing more than what is asked, giving to those who ask,
loving not only our neighbors but also our ‘‘enemies’’
and praying for those who are against us.

This can also look like simply forgiving those who wronged us.

I got challenged by God when He reminded me that this includes showing selfless love to my parents.

Unfortunately they have not been able to show me the love that every child deserves.
They have wronged and hurt me a lot.

But I realised that, just like so many people in this world,

they too are still fighting their own battles
and have yet to experience the healing love of God.

And His word is clearly telling me to set that example,
regardless of my thoughts and feelings towards them.

Practising all these things is what makes us the light of this world.

We stand out when we live by the standards of God’s word rather than the world’s standard.

And it isn’t always easy because sometimes it goes against our own feelings.
But that’s why

Philippians 2:14-15 says:

Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you.
Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights
in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

Sometimes, the first or only Bible someone will ever read is your life!

So I’d like to challenge you this week:

Think of one way you could shine your light and bring some hope, love, peace, wisdom, kindness or whichever Godly trait you can think of, into your environment.

I pray that as you practice this, those around you may experience the revelation of Jesus through your light.

I truly believe that when we all try to live out these standards,
we can make this dark world a brighter place.

Okay, let me take you right into this post’s topic.

Recently, I received a piece of the “Flee From Sin” tracksuit. And while wearing it to work, it made me pause and think.

What does fleeing from sin actually look like?
And more importantly— where am I fleeing towards?

While meditating on these questions, I landed on Matthew 12:35:

“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.”

Here, Jesus is saying that what rules in your heart determines what flows out of it.
He’s not just addressing outward behavior— He’s speaking about the treasures of the heart.

That made me wonder: what does this have to do with fleeing from sin?

And then I realized— if I find myself endlessly running from sin, yet still being pulled back into the same cycle, the issue might not be my effort, but the foothold sin still has in my heart.

I could try to flee with all my strength, but if my heart’s dwelling place hasn’t changed, I’ll grow weary— and sin will eventually catch up with me.

But Glory be to Jesus, because that’s exactly where He comes in.

Fleeing was never about running endlessly.
It was always about running toward Him.

When we run toward Jesus, He doesn’t just tell us what to leave behind—
He replaces what once ruled our hearts with His presence.
And when His presence fills the heart, sin loses its ability to produce fruit in our lives.

Fleeing from sin is not about running harder. But about shifting focus and dwelling differently.

Jesus reminds us that what flows out of our lives is determined by what we store in our hearts. So maybe the invitation isn’t to pressure ourselves by constantly fleeing, but to let Him reclaim the inner dwelling place.

I’ll end this post with a piece out of a poem I wrote, reflecting on my own running toward Jesus.

I’m tired of what this world 
claims to give.
 
I want to dwell in the heavenly place
where Yeshua lives.
 
To become
the place where Yeshua reigns.

For He is the solid rock,
bearing life itself—
The ground that holds
before it reveals,
the foundation
on which I’m being built.
 
He washes feet,
before teaching them how to walk.
He renews minds,
before teaching us how to talk.
He touches hearts,
and makes them pure.

Through surrender  
we learn how to endure, 
and at the end, 
the fullness of His presence 
is what He ensures.

Is it a 5 because, you fell into sin again?

Is it a 3 because, you have not been to church in months?

If you call yourself a Christian, there is only one right answer… 10.

If you said any other number, this might suggest that you still trust in your own works and righteousness or you perhaps don’t understand the Gospel.

Jesus lived a life we could not live (a sinless life), he died a death we should have died (a sinners death).

There is no amount of good works or sinless days that can save us.

Either you are saved by his grace or not. There is no middle ground.

That is the Gospel.

John’s Confidence in Jesus’ Love

John often called himself “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” That wasn’t pride - it was confidence.

He wasn’t boasting about his love for Jesus, but resting in Jesus’ love for him.

At the Last Supper, John even leaned on Jesus’ chest, a vivid picture of trust and assurance. He knew he was loved, fully and securely.

That same confidence is meant for us. Jesus’ love is perfect, unwavering, and not based on how our week went or how many times we’ve failed.

Eternity is real, heaven is real, and the God who rescued you loves you more than you can comprehend.

This is the kind of love you can rest in with absolute assurance.

My name is Stephanie Nyota and I have been granted the opportunity to start sharing my writings within this community - praise God!

Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:37 (NLT): “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”

With this in mind, I’ve been pondering on how to give form to this task of sharing my faith through words and how vulnerable this actually feels to me.

God’s Word has been my literal lifeline, in the sense that it saved me from a very dark space.

Through writing, God revealed His grace and began speaking more life into my mind. Little did I know that this love language between me and the Lord would one day become something I would share with others.

Return to your first love.

These past couple of months, however, I’ve felt distant from God. My writing hasn’t been flowing as usual, and life has been letting me down left and right. To be very honest, it has been hard for me to stay hopeful, and it has caused my heart to grow a bit cold toward the Lord and His Word.

But even in the midst of that, God still arranged for me to be here, sharing words rooted in faith. This reminded me that God’s love is truly unwavering, especially in our doubt. And I told God I will always have faith, regardless of what comes my way.

Yet I had to ask myself: how much of that faith is actually being shown in action? How have I been practically showing God that I love Him, even when life feels heavy?

I think many of us are familiar with the phrase “return to your first love.” When I thought of this, I was instantly drawn back to writing because for me, writing is the practice that helps me bring my heart, soul, and mind before God, so the Holy Spirit can transform and redirect them back to Him.

So what does it look like to love God practically?

• Loving God with all my heart means surrendering my desires.

• Loving Him with all my soul means allowing Him to heal my brokenness.

• Loving Him with all my mind means inviting Him into my thoughts and letting Him renew them.

And as I share this with you, I’d love to invite you into reflection as well: Where are the desires of your heart, the issues of your soul, or the thoughts in your mind that need to be surrendered back to your first love?

And what practice could you (re)partake in to make space for the Holy Spirit to redirect you? Is it reading the Word, journaling, drawing, singing, going on a walk or just simply being still before God.

It could be anything, as long as you are inviting God to be at the center of it and allowing Him to work through in all honesty!

It is in doing so that we can wholeheartedly live out the second commandment Jesus gave us in Matthew 22:39 (NLT), which is equally important: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” And we can only love each other because “He first loved us” (1 John 4:19, NLT).

A Little Poetry Prayer

Glory be to my Creator,
Whose hands have crafted me elegantly,
Whose hands have guided me steadily,
Whose hands have provided me sanity.

Even when I feel so blatantly,

Even when I feel forgotten constantly.

Glory be to my Creator,
Who keeps reminding me of Who made her,
Who keeps redirecting me on my ways and,
Who keeps providing me wisdom and safety - always.

Have you ever tried to share the gospel with someone, only to realise how misunderstood Christianity can seem?

For many, it’s seen as nothing more than a list of rules, do’s and don’ts, or some kind of mythical story made up long ago. But the heart of the gospel is far simpler - and far more beautiful - than that.

The gospel is not about religion or restriction.

Think about love.

In a marriage, the focus is never on what can no longer be done. Of course, there are things that naturally change - you don’t go chasing after other girls or guys, you don’t flirt on the side, you don’t look for love elsewhere. But those things are not the focus. The focus is the person - the joy of being with the one who is loved.

Christianity is like this. Yes, there are things Jesus calls us into, and at first they can sound like a list of “can’t do’s.” Don’t get drunk. Don’t live in sexual immorality. Don’t swear. Don’t isolate yourself, but instead be part of the church and live in community.

But these are not burdens or restrictions to obsess over. They flow naturally out of love. Christianity is not a story of loss, but of love. It is about choosing to walk with Jesus, to delight in Him, and to discover life as it was meant to be lived.

At the very foundation of faith is this simple truth:

• Jesus died for us.

• Jesus loves us.

• Through Him, we have life.

That is the good news. That is the gospel.

And as a community, we want to walk in this together.

Beginning next week, the format of our weekly newsletter will change. Three voices will begin sharing in rotation, bringing reflections from their own journeys of faith. Our hope is that these perspectives make this space more personal and engaging - a way to do life together as we seek Jesus.
